Note: Epigrams consists of twelve short movements for piano trio. Like the ancient Greek literary form on which they are modeled, the movements are characterized by surprising and witty changes of direction and mood. Epigrams was Elliott Carter’s final composition, completed in the spring and summer of 2012.
