From Edition Silvertrust

Hermann Zilcher (1881-1948), while not in the front rank of 20th-century composers, was, however, fairly well-known within Germany during his lifetime. Trained as a concert pianist who, for a while, toured internationally, Zilcher spent most of his life as a professor of piano and composition and Director of the Wurzburg Conservatory. He enjoyed a reputation as a leading teacher, and many important 20th-century composers studied with him.

Hermann Zilcher's Wind Quintet, Op. 91, also known as "Vier Jahreszeiten" (The Four Seasons), was composed between 1940 and 1943 and published the following year. It is for a standard wind quintet of flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon. The piece consists of four movements, each representing a season: Frühling (Spring), Sommer (Summer), Herbst (Autumn), and Winter.

Unavailable for many years, we are pleased to reintroduce it.
